This One's Mine

I don’t know exactly how it happened
Your toys were much more interesting than mine
We always played with yours
And it never started wars
Until you took an interest in mine

But this one’s mine
You can’t have it
I won’t let you play with it
This one’s mine
You can’t have it
If you come too close I’ll throw a fit

This one is for me
But you know that it is true
Next time when it’s yours
I’ll be glad to play with you

But this one’s mine
You can’t have it
Just how can I make you see
That the pile on the other side
Belongs to me and you
This one here belongs to me

You know that I have shared things with you
Many times before
Like those fancy glossy pictures
In our daddy’s sweater drawer
